EyeDentify Retina Biometric
Reader
Retinal Pattern (EyeDentify):
A person's eye is as unique as a fingerprint and can be used to identify
someone. The EyeDentify retinal readers claim to be the most secure biometric
identification method. There have been no False Acceptances and fraud seems
impossible. Unfortunately the False Rejection Rate is high and the method
will not be easily accepted by the general public. Therefore the utilisation
of this method seems limited to high-security access control systems such
as nuclear reactors or military installations.
- False acceptance rate:
No false acceptances;
- Vulnerability to fraud:
No counterfeits seem possible. False eyes, contact lenses and eye; transplants
cannot breach the security of this device;
- Ease of use: Difficult
to use. Socially difficult to accept because people do not like to have
their eyes scanned;
- Suitable for everyone:
Suitable for everyone with eyes;
- Size for storage of
identification tokens: 40 bytes;
- Long term stability:
The retinal vascular pattern is very stable. Only a small number of
diseases or injuries will change this pattern;
Proven technology: Used
in a fair amount of systems.
Technical Specifications:
Features
* Non-Volatile data
base storage of up to 3000 enrollees.
